Archie Schiller, a seven-year-old from South Australia, joined the Australian team as co-captain of the squad for their third Test against India in Melbourne. In an extremely heartwarming gesture, the coach of the Australian team, Justin Langer, had told Archie and his parents about his inclusion in the team via a video call.
The young player’s reaction to the revelation is certainly a sight to watch. He announced to Justin soon after that he was a leg-spin bowler, and that he planned on getting Virat Kohli out. Make-A-Wish Australia Foundation made this possible for Archie, who learned of his condition and aspirations when he prepared for his most recent operation. The young leg-spinner also got the chance to meet his “heroes” at the Adelaide Oval before the training session, where he was presented with his Australian cap.
