Anna Hazare to go on hunger strike

Gandhian Anna Hazare has said that he will launch one more stir for the setting up of Lokpal at the Centre.  

“Law (Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act) was made in 2013.  A year later, Modi government came in power in 2014.  We felt that something will be done now, but they did nothing in the last five years. So I have decided to go on a hunger strike from 30 January, in my village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra,” Hazare today told a news agency.  

Earlier in the week, he accused the NDA government of undermining the sanctity of constitutional bodies.  Hazare went to the extent of saying that Modi has been pushing the country towards dictatorship.

Since it’s not in New Delhi that Hazare will be sitting on a dharna, it may not assume much political significance.
