This week there has been three direct Tamil releases, including the biggie Paayum Puli` from the Vishal-Suseenthiran duo. But this has had little effect on the number of screens and show times allotted to last week`s grand solo release Thani Oruvan`. The Mohan Raja directed conspiracy thriller film ran to packed houses everywhere it was screened even during the weekdays and that`s a remarkable achievement in recent times. While the film had a fantastic pre release buzz with the inclusion of the handsome Jayam Ravi, ever beautiful Nayanthara and the suave and brilliant Aravind Swamy in lead roles, a super hit music album and a neatly cut trailer the novel content of the film written by Raja and writer duo Suba and its fantastic execution by the entire team has made the film a unanimous people favourite- a fact that reflects in the huge box office collections.

For any good script to reach the audience as a likeable film, the confidence of the Producer in is the lifeblood as a producer should be ready to spend for the genuine requirements of the script to become a film in the way the director would have envisaged it. But the names of the producers are rarely mentioned in reviews by critics as well as fans. That way the role of Thani Oruvan`s producers Kalpathi brothers (S. Aghoram, S, Ganesh and S. Suresh) of the AGS Entertainments banner deserves praise from all who have liked the film. Considering the facts that this film does not have a superstar, this is the film directed by Raja after a gap of four years and this is also the director`s first original script, it can be said that the strong confidence of the producers on the script has been vital for Thani Oruvan` coming as a treat to every movie buff.

A cursory look at the films produced by AGS Entertainment makes one feel that they have always had the eye for novel content and ensured that they are presented in big canvas. They started their journey with Thiruttu Payale` in 2006. The critically acclaimed and commercially successful film would not have happened but for the producers guts to take up a script with a negative hero as the lead and carried a good message as their maiden venture. This followed by a super hit family entertainer Santosh Subramaniam`, Chimbudevan directed cowboy flick Irumbukottai Murattu Singam` , director Vijay`s romance drama set in pre-independence era- Madarasapattinam`, ace comedian Vadivelu`s comeback film period comedy flick Thenali Raman` Myskin`s thriller flick (without a song) Yudham Sei`, K.V.Anand`s Maatran a film with conjoined twins in the lead role and a script laced with scientific concepts and international politics and Anegan` which had a novel story and also followed a new pattern of narration are the proud presentations of the production house. There have been hits and flops, but the urge to take up novel contents and doing justice to it from the production side have been the underlining factor in all films produced by AGS Entertainments.

Now the huge success and unanimous praising reviews come for Thani Oruvan` come as a deserved gift from the audience and this would definitely enthuse this gallant production house to take up new concepts and ideas that every movie lover can look forward to.
