In a shocking turn of events over a hundred female students lodged sexual harassments and mental torture complaints against male professors of the 87 year old Kalakshetra dance college. On the recommendations of the Tamil Nadu Women's Commission the four accused have since been arrested and police have started an inquiry.
At this juncture actress Abhirami Venkatachalam who gained limelight after participating in 'Bigg Boss 3' hosted by Kamal Haasan called a press meet in support of the institution. She questioned the validity of the female and male students who made the harassment allegations while categorically giving a clean chit to all the accused.
Model turned actress and 'Bigg Boss 4' celebrity Sanam Shetty has slammed Abhirami Venkatachalam on social media. She earlier criticized Kalakshetra "They don't need spelling lessons to voice out. They only need the courage to fight against abuse..which they have. If you can't stand with the victims better sit down and stay quiet. Let the truth come out. #stopvictimshaming #Kalakshetra"
Sanam then commented on Abhirami's claim that she never faced any sexual harrasment in the institution as a former student "Arrogance & ignorance! Pesa virupam illena pesame irunga. If it dint happen to U it doesn't mean it hasn't happened to them.
Were U there for all 89 years? Can U guarantee every activity of every teacher there?
Why are U one sided? Wait for the truth".
Abhirami Venkatachalam is currently acting in Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. She shared pics from the Kashmir schedule of the much awaited film.
