Actress Roja who ruled the South Indian film industry as the number one heroine during the nineties switched to politics and is currently the MLA of Nagari constituency in AP for the second term. On Monday she was suddenly admitted to a private hospital in Chennai which caused concern amongst fans.

Roja's husband director R.K. Selvamani through an audio message has stated that his wife had to undergo two major surgeries and is in ICU at a private hospital in Chennai. He said without divulging what the problem is that the surgeries were long overdue and Roja had postponed it first due to her election commitments and then due to the pandemic.

He requested fans not to visit her at the hospital and said that the prayers of millions will ensure that Roja successfully undergoes her surgeries and gets well soon.
