Actor-Politician Khushbu Sundar, who was one of the most active celebrities on Twitter, had regularly posted her views on current politics in the country while offering her support for the Sonia Gandhi led Indian National Congress party. Khushbu has quit Twitter today, citing ‘too much negativity’ as the reason.
In an interview with a news agency, Khushbu said, “The negativity on Twitter was consuming me. I was becoming who I am not. I had to [quit] to prevail my sanity and keep it intact. I am not somebody who quits because of the trolls. For me, as a person, it was important that I remain who I am.” Talking about the constant abuse and regulations of the same, she added, “Regulation definitely needs to be brought in. You say that there is democracy. If you use your democratic powers to abuse me, I should be given the same powers to do the same to you. Just because I am a celebrity or a politician, does not mean I should not be able to enjoy the perks of being in a democratic country.”
Khushbu, who is still available on Instagram, reportedly posted a picture of her daughter on Twitter once and was met with spiteful/distasteful remarks.
