Actress Kasturi Shankar, known for her outspoken and often controversial statements,, recently embroiled in a serious situation. The comments she made on the Telugu community are the reason for the same. However, the police detained her in Hyderabad.
In her speech, she controversially stated that Telugu people, who she claimed came to serve the harem of a king less than 300 years ago, are now calling themselves Tamils. She also targeted Dravidian ideologues, questioning their authority to declare Brahmins as non-Tamils. These remarks sparked outrage, especially among the Telugu community, leading to a police complaint against her.
Although Kasturi publicly apologized, explaining that she did not intend to offend, the controversy did not subside. She sought anticipatory bail to avoid arrest, but the court denied her request.
Following this, she reportedly locked her home in Chennai, turned off her phone, and went into hiding. The police began a search for her and ultimately located and detained her in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Kasturi Shankar is now being taken back to Chennai for further legal proceedings.
