An actress who has played an important character alongside Superstar Rajinikanth in 'Lal Salaam' has been sentenced to one year in jail. Her husband who is also a famous actor too has given the same sentence shocking their fans.

Veteran actor Dr. Rajasekhar was a superstar in Telugu during the late eighties and nineties with his films such as 'Ithuthanda Police' also gaining him a fanfollowing in Tamil Nadu too. His wife Jeevitha was also a prominent actress at the time who has starred in several films opposite Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Karthik, Mohan and Suresh.

The couple fell in love and got married in 1991 and have two daughters Sivani and Shivatmika who are also actresses. In 2011 Jeevitha and Rajasekhar apparently made derogatory remarks against Megastar Chiranjeevi's Blood Bank initiative claiming that blood collected from fans is being sold in the black market.

Chiranjeevi's brother in law and superstar Allu Arjun's father Allu Aravind filed a defamation case against Rajasekhar and Jeevitha which went on for more than a decade. Now the verdict is out and the Nampally chief magistrate has sentenced the powerful couple to one year prison and a fine of rupees five thousand. The couple have procured bail and will appeal in a higher court.

Incidentally Jeevitha after almost two decades is making a comeback in Tamil playing the younger sister of Superstar Rajinikanth in 'Lal Salaam'. The film produced by Lyca with A.R. Rahman's music is directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and will release by the end of this year.
