Veteran actor Captain Raju passes away

Veteran multilingual actor Captain Raju passed away at his residence in Kochi this morning.  He suffered a stroke in June on a flight to the US when he was going for his son’s wedding but was hospitalized midway in Muscat.  After a week’s treatment Raju returned to Kochi and was undergoing treatment.

Captain Raju who served in the army made his acting debut in Malayalam in 1981 and later acted in several films in Tamil as well notably ‘Kadamai Kanniyam Kattupadu’ produced by Kamal and starring Sathyaraj.  He has also starred in ‘Dharmathin Thalaivan’ with Rajini and Prabhu and other films such as ‘Rajakumaran’, ‘Yen Jeevan Paduthu’, ‘Jeeva’ and ‘Soorasamharam’.

The Nadigar Sangam has released a condolence statement in which Captain Raju has been praised for his 37 years of service to the film industry and his deep involvement in the organization as well.
