Following the revelation yesterday regarding ABD’s offer to rejoin his side for the World Cup and the management’s refusal, the legendary batsman has posted a Tweet which seems to be a response to fans. De Villiers had approached South Africa’s captain Faf du Plessis, head coach Ottis Gibson and convenor of selectors Linda Zondi to reverse his retirement decision. This was not possible however as having retired, he was not fit for the selection criteria and it would not be fair to the other players who were putting up good performances.
Yesterday, the one of a kind batsman known as Mr. 360 tweeted: “All that’s important is that we should all focus on supporting the team at the World Cup. There is a long way to go and I believe the boys can still go all the way #ProteaFire.” Fans have been continuing to post messages saying that they are missing their star. Looks like seeing him in this tournament will not be possible, however.
