Passengers killed after falling from moving Chennai train

In a shocking incident, 5 passengers who were travelling standing on footboard in a Chennai suburban train lost their lives after hitting an iron pole along the track at St.Thomas Mount Station this morning. 10 other passsengers have suffered serious injuries also.

It was the Chennai beach- Tirumalpur suburban train.The victims were identified to be between the age groups of 22 to 35. Two got killed on the spot while the remaining three died on their way to the hospital. Officials in the railways say that the services were delayed in the Chennai Beach- Guindy section around 7 am because of signal failure in Kodambakkam station.

Hence there was more crowd in the Chennai Beach- Tirumalpur train. Just on Monday, two people died after falling off the train in St Thomas Mount station. Train services were stopped atleast for half an hour while some passengers protested demanding safety.
