A Chinese man was rushed to the hospital after a 10-minute kiss with his girlfriend reportedly caused a loss of hearing, according to a report by the South China Morning Post. The incident occurred on August 22 when the couple was sharing a passionate kiss at West Lake in China's Zhejiang province. The man suddenly experienced sharp pain in his ear, leading to a visit to the hospital.
Doctors discovered that the man's eardrum was perforated due to a rapid change in air pressure inside the ear during the intense kiss. Combined with heavy breathing, this created an imbalance that led to the eardrum rupture. The doctors prescribed antibiotics and informed him that a full recovery would take about two months.
Interestingly, this is not the first such case. In 2008, a young woman from southern China also suffered partial hearing loss after a passionate kiss ruptured her eardrum.
The story has sparked discussions on Chinese social media platforms, with users sharing their thoughts on the unusual incident. Some lightheartedly commented on the unpredictable nature of love, while others expressed humorous concerns about the dangers of romantic relationships.
The incident coincided with the Qixi festival, also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day, celebrated on August 22 this year.
