Yogi Vs Kejriwal to compete for PMs chair in 2029?

The Exit Polls that were out on Monday evening suggest that Yogi Adityanath is going to retain power in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP is most likely to win 280-300 seats in the 403-seat Assembly. And AAP is most likely winning a stellar majority in Punjab. Congress is losing Punjab big-time.

There is no reason to believe that the Exit Polls are terribly wrong. They are most likely going to come true on March 10. If that happens, the Congress party's obituary will be written by many, given Punjab is one of the few states where it is strong. Rahul Gandhi will be accused of mismanaging its political affairs ahead of the Assembly elections.

AAP will slowly start gaining ground in a couple of other States as well. And with Yogi becoming the CM of India's most populous State for the second time in a row, he will eventually go on to become the PM candidate of the BJP after Modi's retirement.

Netizens are speculating that, by 2029, Congress will have weakened so considerably that it might turn into a non-entity even in Karnataka and Maharashtra. AAP will most likely have captured a lot of its voters and become an interesting force in many States by then. Jana Sena Party in Andhra Pradesh has a low vote share but it is considered a player. AAP might become one in States like Gujarat.

AAP is expected to become the only pan-India force other than BJP to command popularity. If that happens, Kejriwal will be the PM candidate of the combined opposition. And Yogi will be propped up as its PM candidate by BJP in 2029. For 2024, it will be Modi Vs Rahul Gandhi, of course.
