One of the highest paid superstars in the world has shocked fans by admitting that he felt like a coward for not protecting his mother when she was under attack. The celebrity in question is none other than globally famous Will Smith who won the Best Actor Oscar in this year's edition.
Will Smith in an interview recorded prior to his infamous slapgate incident at the Oscars told David Letterman that his mother suffered great physical abuse by his father on a daily basis. He said "When I was 9 years old, I saw my father beat up my mother, and I didn’t do anything. And that just left a traumatic impression of myself as a coward.”
Smith 53, during the Academy Awards 2022 at the spur of the moment jumped on tot the stage and slapped presenter Chris Rock who made a joke on his wife Jada Pinket Smith's baldness. He later regretted his deed but was banned by the motiona pictures academy from attending any Oscar event for the next ten years.
Earlier reacting to the Chris Rock incident Smith's mother Caroline Bright came to the defence of her son stating "He is a very even, people person. That's the first time I've ever seen him go off. First time in his lifetime ... I've never seen him do that," Bright is a school administrator and is very close to her son with whom she is often seen at red carpet events.
