People worldwide rely on WhatsApp to maintain connections with friends and family and to facilitate various transactions, such as sharing information through video or audio formats and conducting monetary transactions. However, the traditional process of linking a mobile number and receiving an SMS code for WhatsApp access poses a challenge for those without mobile phones.
To cater to a broader audience and enhance the user experience, WhatsApp is rolling out new features that eliminate the necessity of linking a mobile number. The Meta company, which owns WhatsApp, is planning to introduce a feature that allows users to log in to WhatsApp through their email address instead of a mobile number. This means that people can access WhatsApp by receiving a one-time password (OTP) sent to their email, even if they don't possess a mobile number. Currently, the email verification feature is available in beta versions for both Android and iOS platforms.
This new functionality will be accessible through the settings section. By linking your email account to WhatsApp, you will have the choice to log in via email in addition to the SMS method. The email verification feature is still in the testing phase and is exclusively available to beta version 2.23.24.10 users at this time.
While this option is currently limited to beta users, WhatsApp is committed to making it available to all of its users shortly. In the meantime, WhatsApp is actively working on other features aimed at enhancing user security and experience. The Meta company is also exploring options like AI-powered support chat to further enrich the platform. People are happy to know that the company has taken their concerns into account and is now ensuring that they can login and use the features in WhatsApp even without having mobiles. They are now waiting eagerly for the company to enable this feature in various mobiles operating on other operation systems.
