Police trace last caller to VJ Chithra before her tragic end

Pandian Stores’ fame actress Chithra fondly known as Chithu by her friends and fans died by apparently hanging herself in the bathroom of a star hotel she was staying in near Nazrethpet in Chennai. Her husband Hemanth Kumar had stated that she came back from a shoot after midnight on December 8th and went in for a bath but did not return for a long time and later her body was found hanging.

Chithra body was cremated on December 10th after the postmortem confirmed that the cause of death was suicide by hanging.  On Saturday for the fifth consecutive day Chithra’s husband Hemnath was grilled by the police as he was inconsistent in his statements.

The RDO has decided to call in Chithra’s family and Hemnath’s family for inquiry and also summons have been sent to several friends and colleagues and also the private ambulance service that was called for to remove the body from the hang noose.

Now police sources have added that the last caller to Chithra’s mobile was her mother and she allegedly argued for a long time asking her to split from Hemnath.  The reason her mother did not like him was that after the engagement many actresses had informed Chithra’s mother that his character was not good and that he had links with many other women.

Hemnath too is said to be of possessive nature and had gone to the sets where Chithra was shooting and had arguments with her.  The police have more or less dealing the case in an angle that Chithra took her own life due to the double pressure that she had to endure from her mother and her husband and she could not let go off either of them.
