Vinayaka Chaturthi is an important festival for Hindus. This festival is celebrated annually on the waxing fourth day (Chaturthi) of the month of Avani. As with most Hindu festivals, offering a variety of dishes as Naivedyam (sacred food offering) to the deity is a tradition.

One of the most favored offerings for Lord Vinayaka is Modakam, also known as Kozhukattai, and preparing it is considered highly auspicious.

Other dishes like Rava Ladoo, Sundal, Appam, Salt Kozhukattai, Urad Dal Kozhukattai, Poli, Vadai, and more can also be prepared and offered as Naivedyam to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.
