Tamil superstar Vijay is contributing big amounts for the relief of Cyclone Gaja-affected villages in Tamil Nadu.

The 'Sarkar' actor has on Tuesday deposited Rs 4.50 lakh in each account of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI ) heads in all of the Gaja Cyclone affected and nearby districts. The 'Sarkar' hero has instructed his fans to provide necessary welfare activities in their districts using the amount sent by him. It's learned that he has already transferred Rs 40 lakhs. More is expected to come in the coming hours.

There were criticisms a few months back that Vijay did not do anything for the victims of the Tuticorin Sterlite protest victims who died in the shootings.

Suriya, Karthi, and Jyothika have contributed Rs 50 lakh. Vijay Sethupathi has given Rs 25 lakh.
