Director S.P.Jananathan has started a new organisation named as 'Ulagayutha Foundation'. Last month,the 'Iyarkai' director organised a press meet to introduce the foundation and also said 100 technicians from South Indian Film industry will be honoured on an event to be held on May 1st which is celebrated across the globe as the International Worker's Day. These are the technicians who were the pillars of the film industry until the modern technology replaced their skills.
As announced by Jananathan. the event was held on Monday with the participation of many celebrities from the film industry as a mark of respect for the veterans who were honoured. Notable among them are actor Vijay Sethupathi, director Cheran and director Ameer.
It was announced in the event that the ever generous Vijay Sethupathi has fully sponsored the 100 sovereigns of gold to honour the technicians with gold medals.
Speaking at the event, the 'Makkal Selvan' said that what he has done is a simple token of gratitude for the industry which has treated him with respect and kindness and supported him in the process of becoming a household name among Tamil people.
