Chief Magistrate Judge Emma Arbuthnot of the UK High Court today said that there is prima facie a case against the disgraced liquor baron Vijay Mallya for fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.
The matter of his extradition has been referred to the Secretary of State, reports say.
Meanwhile, the CBI spokesperson reacted to the news saying, "We hope to bring him soon and conclude the case. CBI has its own inherent strengths. We worked hard on this case. We are strong on Law and facts and we were confident while pursuing extradition process."
The UK court order is a relief for the Modi government on a day when RBI Governor Urjit Patel has resigned suddenly, giving it bad press.
