‘Viduthalai Part 1’, directed by Vetrimaaran, came out last year and won over audiences. The makers are now working on a sequel with Soori and Vijay Sethupathi reprising their roles from the original. We already wrote that Viduthalai was selected for screening at the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam 2024.
The film made its debut at IFFR yesterday. The shooting for ‘Viduthalai 2’ isn’t over yet but the team presented a combined version of both parts in this screening. Now, Red Giant Movies took to social media and posted that ‘Viduthalai’ garnered heavy applause from the audience for 5 minutes. This is now going viral on social media.
The studio posted a clip of the audience at the screening celebrating the film and a photo of Soori, Vetrimaaran and Vijay Sethupathi in the crowd after the show. Sharing the footage, they captioned, “#Viduthalai Part 1 & 2 The film receives a thunderous standing ovation at @IFFR! Powerful 5-minute applause resonates with the impactful storytelling and stellar performances at #RotterdamFilmFestival An @ilaiyaraaja Musical”
Based on a short story by Jeyamohan, Viduthalai is a tale about how a police constable’s life becomes intertwined with the leader of a separatist group and his arrest. ‘Viduthalai 2’ will hit the screens later this year. It stars Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, Chethan, Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon, Prakash Raj, Manju Warrier and many others.
