Kaikala Satyanarayana is no more. The versatile artist, who was born in 1935, passed away in the wee hours of Friday due to health issues.
Aso a producer, Kaikala tried his hand at direction as well. He acted in more than 750 films, becoming one of the most fecund artists in the history of Indian cinema.
A Member of Parliament in the 11th Lok Sabha, he was associated with the TDP. A recipient of the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award, Kaikala produced the 1994 film ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’, which won the Best Feature Film Nandi award.
The 1993 fantasy comedy ‘Yamaleela’ cast him as Lord Yama. His impeccable performance in the film fetched him a fan base among youngsters and kids, who loved his dramatic and comical dialogue delivery. He started his career in the late 1950s with films like ‘Sipayi Kuthuru’ and ‘Raja Makutam’. Kaikala went on to share screen space with many thespians, including NT Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, Krishna, Shoban Babu, Krishnam Raju and others.
Kaikala remains one of the most-feted and loved artists of Telugu cinema.
