Venkat Prabhu teams up with his legendary uncle Ilayaraja for the first time in his career

Venkat Prabhu, earlier this year delivered the pathbreaking Scifi fantasy film ‘Maanaadu’ starring Simbu and S.J. Suryah.   The huge commercial success and critical acclaim of the film has brought him back into the reckoning as a top filmmaker.

VP is gearing up to direct a new movie with the working title ‘NC22/VP11’ that has Naga Chaitanya in the lead and Arun Vijay in a pivotal role.  The film is produced by Sri Srinivasa Silverscreen and talks are on with a leading actress to play the female lead.

VP so far has worked mostly with his cousin brother Yuvan Shankar Raja excepting for ‘Manmadha Leelai’ for which his brother Premgi Amaran served as the composer.  Now for ‘NC22’ the affable filmmaker is joining hands with his legendary uncle Isaigniani Ilayaraja who has agreed to score the music along with Yuvan.

Ilayaraja and Yuvan united for the first time for the film ‘Maamanithan’ directed by Seenu Ramasamy and starring Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie Shankar and Guru Somasundaram.  The Venkat Prabhu film will be the second film that will have the father and son duo directing the music.  Stay tuned for the official announcement.
