Veteran actor C.R. Parthiban passed away at the age of 90 in Chennai due to natural causes. A relative of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Rajaji and actor Gemini Ganesan he has acted in over 120 films out of which the most famous ones were ‘Veerapandiya Kattabomman’, ‘Pudhumaipithan’ and ‘Kozhi Koovuthu’.
The historical drama ‘Veerapandiya Kattabomman’ directed by B.R. Banthulu and starring Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan in the title role is considered one of the best movies ever in Tamil cinema history. One of the most memorable characters in the film is undoubtedly that of Jackson Durai portrayed by C.R. Parthiban. The altercation scene between Sivaji and Parthiban is even today popular and will remain so for many years to come. We extend our deepest condolences to the late actor’s family and friends.
