Teenage girl gang-raped by brothers for scoring "good marks" in exams

Four men have been accused of raping a class 8 girl on her school campus as they were jealous of her good performance in school. The girl reportedly outshined them in every exam, leading to the humiliation of the boys, who are also her cousin brothers.

The incident has been reported from the Sitapur city of Uttar Pradesh. One of her teachers has also been arrested after it was found that he condoned the boys’ act initially and later participated in the crime himself. The accused would first sedate the girl and then sexually assault her. The alleged incident would be recorded by the teacher, who would circulate the videos in a WhatsApp group. The girl would have no memory of what happened when she woke up. Her parents, who had come across a video later, registered a complaint against the four men and the teacher.

“When she [the victim] regained consciousness, she was told she fainted on the playground and was hence, brought to the staff room. She realized what went on during those times only after the clips were shared,” one of the police officers said. They are on the lookout for the accused, who are on the run.
