US becomes first country to reach 1 lakh corona cases!

The United States became the first country to report more than 100,000 coronavirus cases, and the country has reported more than 1,500 deaths.  As of IST 3:30 AM today, US had 100,717 cases and 1,544 deaths.

Currently, the country is contributes 17 per cent of the world’s coronavirus cases, and most of the cases are from New York. The United States now has close to 15,000 more cases than Italy and 20,000 more than China where Coronavirus originated.

While the mortality rate due to Coronavirus infection in Italy is 10.5%, in US it is 1.5%. It has been said that with extensive testing on asymptomatic people the death rate can be controlled. The United States has announced a $174 million financial assistance to 64 countries including $2.9 million to India to fight Coronavirus.
