Though top hero films are coming to cinemas at regular intervals, it has been a really long since every top hero movie was released in the same year. In 2024, we are going to witness biggies from every star hero in Tamil cinema. Here is the complete list of top hero films releasing this year:

Vettaiyan - Superstar Rajinikanth starrer political cop drama directed by TJ Gnanavel. The film, also featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan, is all set to hit the screens on Diwali. The movie has music by TJ Gnanavel.

Thug Life - Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam are reuniting after 37 years for this action flick which also stars Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan, Gautham Karthik, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, Nassar, and others. The AR Rahman musical will be hitting the screens later this year.

The Greatest Of All Time - Thalapathy Vijay and Venkat Prabhu combo, which was a long-time dream for the fans, came true with this sci-fi fantasy action film. The project boasts an intriguing star cast comprising Vijay, Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Ajmal, Mohan, Sneha, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Yogi Babu, Premgi, Vaibhav and others. Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring music for Vijay after a long time. The film is said to have a grand release in the second half of this year.

Vidaamuyarchi - Ajith Kumar's action biggie with director Magizh Thirumeni and Lyca Productions. The star cast also includes Trisha, Arjun, Aarav, George Maybu, Regina Cassandra and many others. The film is mostly shot abroad and is all set to hit the screens later this year.

Kanguva - Suriya and director Siruthai Siva came together for this magnum opus film in which Suriya is said to play five/six roles. It is said to be a visual treat in standard, 3D and IMAX formats in more than 10 languages across the world. The post-production works are going on now. It also stars Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, Natty Natraj, Yogi Babu and others. Coming to cinemas by the end of the year.

Thangalaan - This is a highly ambitious project in Chiyaan Vikram's career, directed by Pa Ranjith. The story revolves around the natives of the Kolaar Gold Fields in Karnataka set in the pre-independence era. The casting coup consists of Vikram, Pasupathi, Parvathy, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltigarone and others. It will have a grand release after debuting in film festivals.

Raayan - Dhanush's milestone 50th film, directed by himself. It is said to be a gangster revenge story revolving around three brothers. With music by AR Rahman, it features Dhanush, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, SJ Suryah, Nithya Menen, Aparna Balamurali, Anikha Surendran and others. The film will hit the screens worldwide in the Summer.

Amaran - The most important film in Sivakarthikeyan's career as he transformed into an action hero in this project. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, this movie is the biopic of Major Mukund Varadarajan. Also starring Sai Pallavi with music by GV Prakash, the flick will be released in Summer.

Maharaja - Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan of 'Kurangu Bommai' fame. It is going to be a highly violent film which will be released during the middle of the year.

STR48 - A magnum opus venture with Simbu playing both hero and villain in a historical backdrop under Desingh Periyasamy's direction. The film's shooting is yet to begin and we have to wait to see whether it will be released this year. It might take time to materialise.
