Veteran film and drama actor Typist Gopu passed away today aged 85 and his funeral will be held at 11.30am at his house at No 3138,6th main road near government high school Ayapakkam Chennai.77 and phone number 9941895736 has been given to convey condolences.
Hailing from Trichy and born Gopirathnam, he made his stage debut in his friend Nagesh’s troupe in the year 1959 and became famous for portraying a typist in the play ‘Nenje Nee Vazhga’ which stuck to his name after that. Gopu was later introduced to the big screen by K. Balachander in the film ‘Naanal’ and went on to feature in numerous films stamping his unique voice and acting. He was a regular cast member of Cho Ramaswamy and later the Y. Gee Mahendra troupe for several decades. We deeply condole the passing away of the senior entertainer.
