Trump Returns: Here Are Key Executive Orders

Donald Trump is set to take oath as the American president later today. He has already defined the key promises he plans to implement on the first day at his office. Reportedly, he plans to sign over 50 executive orders on the first day. These orders will focus on immigration, energy, border security, reducing the cost of living for Americans, ending DEI programs across the federal government and other government reforms.

Border Policies:

1. Reportedly, Trump will launch a national emergency at the US-Mexico border to unlock the Pentagon funding and resources.
2. He will also deploy troops to build border infrastructure.
3. It is reported that Trump will relaunch the “Remain in Mexico” policy which requires asylum seekers to stay in Mexican border cities during U.S. court proceedings.4.  ?It is heard that STEM OPT extension will be reduced for international students from three years to one year, limiting it to only bona fide employment.
4. ?It is heard that a ban will be imposed on family-based green card sponsorships to shift focus away from chain migration.
5. Trump also plans to pause the Diversity Visa Lottery Program, particularly for smaller countries.

Energy Policies:

It is stated that Trump will reverse the decision of Joe Biden to ban offshore drilling on US federal land.

Government Reform:

1. Reportedly, Trump plans to rewrite the federal hiring rules and implement a new process for firing employees.
2. The “Schedule F” executive order will be reissued. It was initially signed in October 2020 to remove job protections for federal workers.
3. Trump also plans to undo the Biden administration’s orders on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

It was also stated that other countries’ students working part-time need not panic about their future. Students who are working part-time just need to follow the law and avoid any criminal records. They should be cautious as ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is monitoring closely. ICE has been given more freedom, and there are no guaranteed safe zones, even in sanctuary cities.
