Actress Poonam Pandey, who is currently a participant in the digital reality show Lock Upp, opened up about attempting to take her own life several times over constant physical abuse by her estranged husband Sam Bombay.
After the contestants of Lock Upp were tasked with discussing the topic of mental health and emotional well-being, Poonam Pandey reportedly claimed it a blessing to be trapped inside the house as it gave her a chance to escape reality. “This jail, the food, my sleep, it is luxury for me. I was in a relationship for four years. Those four years of my life, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t eat. I would not eat for days, that’s why I crave vada pav. I would get beaten up, I would get locked in one of my bedrooms. My phone was broken, so I couldn’t make any calls. And the next time I would just feel that I should kill myself,” the actress said.
“I have tried to kill myself multiple times. He would beat me up like a dog, then I started feeling that I am very weak,” she added. Poonam Pandey and Sam Bombay tied the knot in September 2020 in a private ceremony in the presence of close friends and family. While they were spending their honeymoon in Goa, Sam Bombay was charged by the police in a case of physical assault against the actress. However, the two of them had patched things up before deciding to part ways yet again.
