The theatrical trailer of Shourya suggets that we are in for a story-based film, complete with suspense, unpredictable characters, and a Hollywoodish screenplay technique adapted to Telugu nativity. The trailer begins with Prakash Raj's narration. Saying that there are three stories associated with every incident, he elaborates: What people imagine, the story told by the participant, the story that really happened.

Cut to Manchu Manoj, who introduces himself as a middle-class, no-nonsense guy with a good job, a sister, and her family. Enters Nethra, played by Regina Cassandra, with whom he falls in love. He talks about opposition from Nethra's elders (played by Nagineedu, and Subbu Raju, among others) in a matter-of-factly manner.

Apparently, he and Regina meet with an accident, following which he is arrested and taken into custody. Enters civil society, taking to the streets to protest against a presumed conspiracy. Prakash Raj seems to be playing a cop.

Brahmanandam, Prabhas Sreenu, Siva Reddy, and Shakalaka Shankar are the comedians seen prominently.

Above all, there is this unseen character educating someone that "Love is a question paper that has no one-size-fits-all answers."
