The National Highway Authority of India has announced that the taxes levied in tolls in Tamil Nadu will be increased from April 1. The taxes levied in Tolls will be increased from Rs 5 – Rs 15 depending upon the location of the Toll Booth, said the National Highways authority.
Out of the 43 Toll booths in Tamil Nadu, 20 Toll booths alone will have toll rates increased, effective from April 1. This price revision will be based on wholesale price index, and will be calculated with the help of a rule that was implemented in 2008. The remaining tolls will have price increase from September 1, and will be calculated based on rule implemented in 1997.
Some of the prominent Toll plazas which will face Toll price revision are Athur, Krishnagiri, Boothakudi, Sriperumbudur, Vagaikulam, Chennasamudram, Vaniyambadi,Vanur and Surapattu. 6 of these toll plazas are on National highways from Chennai to Bangalore, Salem and Madurai.
