Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has announced that the government is working on the distribution of free face masks to seven crore people in the state. In the press meet held yesterday, the chief minister revealed that the government is planning to provide two face masks each to seven crore people on 2.1 crore ration cards.
The chief minister insisted people to maintain social distancing to avoid spreading corornavirus. Adding that measures are being taken to control and handle the pandemic, Edappadi Palanisamy said that that there are 75,000 beds across Tamil Nadu to admit Corona affected persons, and in Chennai there are 17,500 beds.
Edappadi Palanisamy said that there are 3,371 ventilators with government hospitals having 2,741 and private hospitals owning 630 in Tamil Nadu, and that only five per cent Coronavirus patients are on ventilators. 13,000 swab tests are done per day in Tamil Nadu and 4000 in Chennai, revealed the chief minister.
