Madurai: Director and actor Ameer recently watched the movie ‘Thug Life’ at Guru Theatre in Madurai’s Arappalayam area. Following the screening, he expressed his interest in directing veteran actor Kamal Haasan, saying, “It’s my dream to direct Kamal Haasan.”
‘Thug Life’ is directed by Mani Ratnam and features an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Trisha, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Nassar, and Abhirami. The film’s music has been composed by A.R. Rahman. The movie was released across several theatres in Tamil Nadu.
Ameer also shared his admiration for Kamal Haasan, mentioning that for the past 40 years he has made it a point to watch Kamal’s film premieres in Madurai. He appreciated Kamal’s dialogues in the film, clarifying that there were no derogatory comments made about the Kannada language or the Cauvery water issue. Instead, the message conveyed was about Dravidian unity and love.
He further stated, “I’ve spoken with Kamal sir two or three times about the possibility of directing him. I hope it happens someday.” Ameer also revealed updates on his upcoming projects, stating that ‘Vada Chennai 2’ will release next year and Vetrimaaran’s ‘Vaadivaasal’ will begin shooting in August.
