The controversial movie 'The Kerala Story' was released last Friday across the country, including Tamil Nadu, to lukewarm response from the audience. There was widespread opposition to the film in both Tamil Nadu and Kerala due to its fabricated claims of thirty thousand Hindu women converted to Islamic terrorists. Several political party leaders and some religious organizations protested against the film in front of theaters and police protection was provided.
Earlier today the Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Association voluntarily stopped screening 'The Kerala Story'. The reason given is the threat of law and order disruption as well as the film failing to gain an audience.
'The Kerala Story' is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah has Adah Sharma in the lead role with Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, Siddhi Idnani, Vijay Krishna, Pranay Pachauri and Pranav Misshra. The film has received generally poor reviews from critics.
