In the trailer for 'The Kashmir Files' (Hindi), we see events leading up to the Hindu ethnic cleansing in Kashmir Valley in the early 1990s narrated with a touch of sensitivity. The post-genocide portions see the arrival of a female activist who claims that Kashmir has never been an integral part of India. Arundhati Roy, a supporter of the Jihadist secessionist movement to free Kashmir from India, has made a similar remark in the past. The character in the film seems to have been inspired by her propaganda.

Releasing the trailer, the makers said, "Thirty-two years later, the emotions and the pain remain the same. Witness the brutally honest story of the Kashmir Genocide." Directed and written by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film will hit the screens on March 11. Atul Srivastava, Anupam Kher, and Mithun Chakraborty have played key roles. Pallavi Joshi and Prakash Belavadi have pivotal roles as well.

Produced by Zee Studios, Tej Narayan Agrawal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film seeks to expose the fanatical and genocidal mindset behind the Azad Kashmir movement.

As the dialogues in the trailer show, the movement has much to do with hate towards India than a genuine urge for freedom.
