Shruti Haasan continues to push boundaries with her versatile talent, and now she is all set for her international debut with the British psychological thriller The Eye. Directed by Daphne Schmon, the film will be the opening feature at the 5th Wench Film Festival, which kicks off tomorrow.
The makers released the official trailer, showing Shruti’s intense and layered performance. The Eye follows the story of Diana, a woman who witnesses the drowning of her husband, Felix, on a remote island. Struggling to cope with the trauma, her grief soon turns into obsession when she learns about the mysterious Evil Eye ritual. This ancient practice offers a chance to bring Felix back but demands a dark and disturbing sacrifice.
Through the trailer, Shruti Haasan is captivated by her nuanced portrayal of Diana. Her expressions, body language, and emotional depth hint at a performance that will leave a lasting impact. In Athens and Corfu, the film extensively shows most of Greece’s breathtaking yet haunting landscapes to enhance its eerie atmosphere.
With The Eye, Shruti not only expands her horizons beyond Indian cinema but also proves her mettle in the psychological thriller genre on an international stage.
