Speaking to a prominent journalist, Prakash Raj has opined that Amitabh Bachchan has been cowardly in not speaking out against the Kathua and Unnao rape incidents. Saying that artists should speak against a “thought process” that is dangerous, the political actor added that when artists become cowardly, they “will become the reason for the society to become coward”.
Unlike in the US, why do Indian film actors fear coming out in the open? Are they scared of commercial consequences to their films? Prakash Raj says yes. ”I am rich enough to lose,” he adds.
The actor’s views, however, are specious. Prakash Raj himself hasn’t spoken up about so many atrocities in India. He recently went to Kerala and said that it’s a state where he can breathe freely.
To hell with the political activists who have been massacred there, especially in Kannur? Those lost lives mean nothing?
