Actor-director Tharun Bhascker, known for his versatile performances, is back in the spotlight—this time as the lead in an all-new rural comedy titled Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi. Starring opposite him is Eesha Rebba, and the film is directed by debutant A R Sajeev. Touted as a rib-tickling rural entertainer, the film blends humor with a slice-of-life relationship drama set in a rustic backdrop.
Produced under the banners of S Originals and Movie Verse Studios, the film is backed by Srujan Yarabolu, Aditya Pittie, Vivek Krishnani, Anup Chandrasekaran, Sadhik Shaik, and Naveen Sanivarapu, with Kishore Jaladi and Bala Sowmitri serving as co-producers. With the shoot now fully wrapped, the team has begun promotions by launching an eye-catching title poster and a creatively executed 2D animated concept video.
The poster, set in a rural environment, cleverly avoids revealing the leads’ faces. Instead, it shows the hands of the couple—locked in a tug-of-war—implying marital chaos beneath the surface of the seemingly peaceful title. Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi plays ironically against the humorous discord hinted at in the visuals.
The concept video introduces Eesha Rebba as Kondaveeti Prashanti, a spirited village belle, and Tharun Bhascker as Ambati Omkar Naidu, a local van owner. The story unfolds after their marriage, where the couple’s post-wedding disputes take center stage—symbolized through quirky cockfights and animated banter. The unique tone, combining humor and domestic chaos, promises a highly entertaining narrative.
The visuals are further enriched by Deepak Yeragara’s rustic cinematography, while Jay Krish’s folk-flavored background score adds an energetic and authentic touch to the film’s rural vibe.
With its offbeat storytelling, culturally rooted setting, and comic treatment of post-marital life, Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi is shaping up to be a refreshing addition to Telugu cinema. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on August 1st, 2025.
