Thaman opens up about his wife, son

Thaman has been married to playback singer Sri Vardhini, whose father was a composer himself. In his latest interview with IndiaGlitz, the most-happening music director described her as a supremely talented singer.

While Vardhini is a nuanced singer with a melodious voice (and she has sung for composers like Mani Sharma and Yuvan Shankar Raja in the past, besides singing four songs under Thaman’s music direction), Thaman doesn’t want to promote her through his movies now. The ‘Bheemla Nayak’ composer doesn’t want to make the director/producer feel obligated to let her sing. Who must sing a song is the music director’s call any day. And Thaman doesn’t want to provide a platform to his wife for the sake of it. 

However, the ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ composer is planning to do stage shows with his wife in the future. “But before that can happen, she should get to sing two-three super-hit songs,” Thaman said. 

Thaman’s son Achyuth is studying Intermediate. “He is the first person who listens to my tunes. He says this is working, that is not working. He is good at using electronic instruments. He has finished the 4th grade of Piano. I don’t know what profession he will take up,” Thaman said.
