“Is Delhi the only India?” – Parasakthi Trailer Review!

The trailer for the film ‘Parasakthi’, starring Sivakarthikeyan and directed by Sudha Kongara, has been released and is currently sparking a massive debate on social media. Set against the backdrop of the 1960s, here is a brief analysis of the trailer

The trailer is designed around the 1965 Anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu. Sivakarthikeyan is introduced as an ordinary railway worker (a coal shoveler).Powerful dialogues delivered by Sivakarthikeyan, such as, “If we go to Delhi, a Madrasi speaks in Hindi… but if a Hindi-speaker comes to Madras, he must speak in Tamil,” are the highlights of the trailer.

Ravi Mohan appears as a powerful antagonist, retaining his own name for the character. A high-octane confrontation between Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan on top of a train roof at the very beginning of the trailer sets a serious tone for the film. Atharvaa delivers an intense performance as a college student leader on the frontlines of the protest.Sreeleela looks elegant in her role as a Radio Anchor. The appearances of Rana Daggubati and Basil Joseph have further heightened expectations.

As this marks G.V. Prakash Kumar’s 100th film, his background score possesses a distinct “soul.” The music particularly elevates the emotions during the protest sequences. Ravi K. Chandran’s cinematography realistically brings the 1960s Chennai and rural landscapes to life before our eyes.

Fans who have watched the trailer are commenting that there is a visible maturity in Sivakarthikeyan’s acting and that Sudha Kongara is set to deliver another high-quality “period” film. Notably, since this film is clashing with Vijay’s ‘Jananayagan’, this Pongal is set to be a massive face-off: ‘Parasakthi’ vs ‘Jananayagan’.
