Near the government medical college, in Pudukottai around three hundred monkeys reside in the surrounding woods. In the summer season, they are affected due to the unavailability of water as well as food which has worsened due to the coronavirus lockdown. The VMI functionaries have built a water tank in which water is filled every day and also fruits with water content like bananas and watermelon have been stocked nearby.
Residents in the area are saying that the primates are bustling with activities enjoying their meals and drinking water happily after suffering scarcity for a long time.
