Thalapathy Vijay is known to be very close to Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and is also an ardent fan of him. Though he could not attend the Kamal 60 function in Chennai the top hero who is shooting in Delhi for 'Thalapathy 64' sent a message through his father SAC who read it to Kamal in the event.
Meanwhile a rumour started in some sections of the media that the story of 'Thalapathy 64' had a close resemblance to Kamal's 1994 film 'Nammavar' and for safety sake he asked Lokesh Kanagaraj to meet the legend and procure the rights. The report further stated that Lokesh has been signed by Raj Kamal Films International for a project as part of the deal for the 'Nammavar' story rights.
In 'Nammavar' Kamal plays a college lecturer who is bullied by a rowdy student leader who later finds out that the soft-spoken man was a gangster himself in his past life. When we inquired to our sources close to the 'Thalapathy 64' team we were informed that Lokesh Kanagaraj has written an original story and the reports doing the rounds are false.
