Ramakanth Achreker passed away in Mumbai at the age of 86.  He had been paralyzed for close to two decades and had been quite ill in the recent past.

Achreker helped shape Sachin Tendulkar's career as one of world's best ever batsmen. Sachin had aspirations to become a fast bowler but Achreker detected his batting skills and advised his parents to change his school to Sharadashram Vidya Mandhir so that he can have better cricket training.

Vinod Kambli, Ajit Agarkar, Pravin Amre and Romesh Powar are the others who played for India after getting coached by Ramakanth Achreker. Tributes are pouring in from the cricketing world for the much loved teacher.
