In 2018, there were reports that director Teja was keen on telling the story of Uday Kiran’s rise and fall and the ultimate tragedy of his suicide through a biopic. It was with his ‘Chitram’ that Uday, a middle-class youngster with no film background, debuted as a hero in the year 2000. ‘Nuvvu Nenu’ and ‘Manasantha Nuvve’ were silver jubilee hits. With three big hits in a row, Uday became a heartthrob. But his fall started soon enough.
Teja may well do a biopic soon. In a recent interview, the occasionally controversial director said that he knows what drove Uday Kiran to die by suicide in the year 2014 and that he is going to break open the secret. He didn’t elaborate on how he plans to do it, but there is this speculation that he might opt for a biopic.
After Uday got married, his life was not doing great. And he had a love failure in the early 2000s.
In an interview in 2017, Uday Kiran’s sister opened up about what transpired when her brother was supposed to marry Chiranjeevi’s daughter, Sushmitha, in 2003. “Uday Kiran was going through trauma when his love life with a journalist fell on the rocks. Chiranjeevi garu was a huge emotional support base during this phase. He advised my brother to focus on his career and grab the many opportunities he was getting. It was Chiranjeevi garu who first proposed that Uday marry his daughter. But Uday discovered that his likes and dislikes were not compatible with that of Sushmita. It was his call to call off the marriage,” Uday’s sister said in an interview.
