Brazilian Teen Arrested for Fatal Shooting of Family Over Cell Phone Dispute

Police said that a 16-year-old Brazilian kid killed his parents and sister in their Sao Paulo home after being enraged about having his cell phone taken away. The local security ministry said that although the horrific crime happened on Friday, it wasn’t discovered until Monday when the adolescent called the police to confess.

Chief of investigation Roberto Afonso said the adoptive teenager was “very frustrated” after his parents took away his phone after a fight. In his confession, the youngster said he shot his father in the back with his municipal policeman father’s duty revolver. Then, going upstairs, he shot his sister, who was sixteen, in the face. His mother returned home a few hours later, and he used the same weapon to murder her.

His mother was fifty years old and his father was seventy-seven. Afonso underlined the significance of finding out if the boy’s behavior was impacted by a psychological problem. The prospect of an accomplice is another area that police are looking into, including whether the teenager spoke with anyone over the phone before the killings.

The lad killed the people and then remained in the house with the bodies until Monday morning, when he was taken into custody. He visited a gym during this time and made bread purchases. Still enraged on Saturday, Afonso said he allegedly used a knife to stab his mother’s body.

Afonso said that the youngster, who is now incarcerated in a juvenile prison facility, spoke about the crimes in a “cold” manner. Minors are shielded from adult trials by specific legislation in Brazil.
