Two people connected to a claimed attack plan in Vienna have been arrested, so three Taylor Swift performances in Austria have been canceled. Promote Barracuda Music called off the gigs, set for August 8, 9, and 10 on Wednesday.
Barracuda Music posted on social media, "Given the confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we must cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone's safety."
The official Taylor Swift website also verified the cancellals. CNN has called Swift's officials to get comments.
Along with another arrest in Vienna, Austrian police announced at a press conference the arrest of a 19-year-old Austrian citizen in Ternitz labeled as an Islamic State sympathizer.
Authorities said the suspects had been radicalized online; the 19-year-old committed allegiance to the current IS leader in early July. With authorities anticipating explosives kept at the Ternitz house, the suspects had taken actual preliminary steps for a terrorist strike.
An Associated Press story claims that chemicals discovered at the suspect's house are under evaluation. Police think the attack objective was Vienna area events.
The concert producer states that all tickets for the postponed events will be immediately returned within the next ten working days.
