In honour of her memory, a businessman in Madurai has installed a life-size statue of his late wife at his residence nearly a month after her death and the images of the same have gone viral on social media.
The statue reportedly arrived at businessman Sethuraman’s house just as he was waiting to conduct the rituals after his wife Pitchaimaniammal’s demise. The couple was married for 48 years and the woman passed away on August 8 due to age-related ailments. Sethuraman created the 6-feet statue placed on a chair with the help of a sculptor and a sketching artist and unveiled it on the 30th day after her death. Sethuraman, who is still struggling to cope with the loss of his wife, has revealed that he had not spent a day without meeting her in the 48 years of their marriage. He apparently got the statue installed in an attempt to fill the void left by Pitchaimaniammal.
“I lost my wife recently but when I look at this statue I can connect with her. Fibre, rubber, and special colours were used to make it,” Sethuraman reportedly informed a news agency. Several people have lauded the man’s efforts, claiming that finding true love such as this one is a rarity these days.
