TN government asks Anna University to conduct re-exam for engineering students

The Tamil Nadu government has directed Anna University to conduct a re-exam for the engineering students who appeared for the online proctored exams conducted in February after the students complained of a low pass percentage.

After holding a meeting with the state higher education minister K Ponmudi, secretary Apporva and other officials of Anna University to discuss the issue involving the online exams, TN Chief Minister MK Stalin made the decision and directed the university to conduct re-exam for students as many of them had failed the exams/scored low marks. The reason stated by the students was that the online exams followed the multiple choice questions (MCQs) based pattern. The students are also not required to pay any exam fee for the re-examinations.

A release from the state government reportedly said, “Students who have passed the February test can appear for a retest if they wish. The online exam will be conducted for three hours like in other universities. Exams for next semester also will be held in the same pattern. The announcements will be released by respective universities, and students are requested to prepare for the exams.”
