A 24-year-old cab driver was reportedly arrested for stalking and threatening to throw acid on a school girl's face in Chennai's Pallavaram.
The man, identified as Nagaraj, had been stalking the girl for over a year even before the onset of the coronavirus outbreak. He was allegedly forcing her to marry him. Upon relentless persistence, the girl complained to her mother, who warned him to stay away from her. As the schools were closed due to the pandemic, Nagaraj found the girl's address and began stalking and harassing her in her neighbourhood. "He kept following the girl whenever she came out of her house," an investigating official was quoted as saying by a news agency. The man later allegedly threatened to throw acid on the girl's face if she refused to accept his proposal.
The girl's mother registered a complaint in the regard with all women police in Tambaram. The accused was booked under the POCSO act and has been remanded in judicial custody.
